I Need Barcodes Today!

Signet Designs, Inc. can help fulfill your barcode questions and orders all through out website.

What is a Barcode?

There are several types of barcodes, the most common and probably the one you'll be purchasing is the "UPC-A" barcode (Universal Product Code). It's a 12-digit number that retailers use to track what they sell and the quantity.

What Barcodes do you sell?

Authentic UPC barcodes. In 1986 we purchased a prefix directly from the Uniform Code Council (the UCC, now GS1-US).

What info do I give to the stores?

The stores will have an information form for you to fill out. It's usually simple:

Company info - name, address, etc.

Product info - size weight, cost

Barcode Number - one for each different product they're selling for you.

Do your Barcodes work?

Yes. We guarantee our product to work. Make sure your manufacturer can properly print the barcodes on your products.

Note: A few retailers require companies to have their own GS1-US prefix (e.g. Kroger). If this sounds fishy to you, that's because it is.

Where you get your barcode has absolutely nothing to do with how it's recorded at the stores. The ONLY requirement is that it's unique to your product and not duplicated anywhere else - and ours is guaranteed to be that - 100% guaranteed.

We offer a Certificate of Authenticity for any store that requires verification. Also, we can show proof that our prefix is registered with the UCC (now GS1-US).

Is my number considered a prefix number?

Technically no, Signet Designs, Inc. is the owner of the prefix issued by the UCC (the first 6 numbers). You own any additional numbers after the first 6. Those are considered your product numbers. This whole issue briefly touches on what is called "sub-dividing."

How many UPC barcodes do I need?

For every different product, be it size, flavor, color, etc., you'll need one UPC for each different product. Your retailer needs to keep track of what's sold both to pay you, and for re-orders. Think of barcodes as kids - for every new kid you need a name. Buy UPC Barcodes has the right to a last name, duly recorded by the UCC (now GS1 US), and by the way, we have enough names (barcodes) for a TON of kids.

What is the turn around time?

On a good day (usually determined by the volume of calls) you'll receive your barcodes that same day (within 4 hours). When we're real busy, it's a 95% chance you'll get them within 24 hours. Weekends are tougher but most people understand this.
